We understand that during your stay for rehabilitation and therapy, your focus is on recovering from your surgery, injury or illness and returning home. It is with this in mind that we have developed a specialized unit for your stay at The Alverno. While in our care, you will stay in our Sr. Ruth Cox Rehabilitation Unit where you will work with physical, occupational and speech therapists who will assist you with your recovery. Your length of stay and exact treatment will depend on your condition and how you progress.

The Sr. Ruth Cox Rehabilitation Unit features 16 private rooms, a lounge and a dining/social area. The first floor location of the unit provides direct access to the therapy gym. While in this unit, you will have the option to dine in the main dining room, in your private room or in the unit dining area.

Our therapy gym features the NuStep, Endorphin Cycle, parallel bars, steps and a variety of other equipment used by our occupational that physical therapists and therapy assistants. The therapy room also includes kitchen and bath training areas to help you regain your ability to perform activities of daily living.

Patients staying in our rehab unit are typically recovering from injuries/illnesses such as:
  • stroke
  • cardiac conditions
  • pneumonia
  • falls
  • surgeries (hip/knee/ankle/shoulder)
  • and various other medical conditions.

1 Skilled Nursing

While in our Rehab Unit, nursing staff will monitor your condition, administer medications and change any dressings following a major surgical procedure. They will also administer IV antibiotics when appropriate.

1 Paying for Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation

Our admissions coordinator and business office manager will be able to assist you with your financial needs and help you determine any out of pocket expenses. Payment options for your stay may include, but are not limited to Medicare, Medicaid, supplemental health insurance and private payment.
